Carpet business introduces wider range

Showroom launched with cheese & wine event, prize giveaway

-

On Thursday September 21, Top Carpets and Floors Port Alfred owner Derick Kleynhans held a cheese and wine evening with local businesses and suppliers to celebrate the launch of their new showroom.

The business, which has been around for 37 years, offers the best in quality and service.

While their name mentions carpets and flooring, they have grown to offer more.

The evening was opened by Neville Williamson, who welcomed everyone to the celebration and introduced the representatives of the various suppliers present who sponsored the prizes for the evening to the value of R42,000.

Sponsors included American Shutters, Traxdors, Flooring Network, Finfloor, Stuart Graham, Blinds Quip, Luxaflex, Azura, and Top Carpets.

“I met Derick 37 years ago and my experience with Top Carpets is when they did my upholstery and lounge suite and I remember saying to him, ‘why don’t you specialise?’ Derick’s mentality is that through his team they have a winning combination and when you do something right you can offer more,” Williamson said.

Williamson emphasised his

point with a Rubik’s cube. First, he joked, “Anyone can solve this: just peel off the stickers.”

Then Williamson, who is a professional magician, proceeded to place the cube in a box — only for it to be revealed fully solved when he took it out again.

“There is no easy way or

shortcut with Top Carpets,” Williamson said. “They provide a 100% perfect product.”

Kleynhans, took the podium and addressed the guests, saying: “We go with the times and have upgraded the shop.

“Even through everyone has known us for 37 years, they might not know our products,”

Kleynhans said, going on to list some of the product range available including the biggest range of blinds in the Eastern Cape and security trellis doors from Traxdors, among others.

“We have top quality products. We can only sell the best as we must be able to guarantee our products.

“Flooring is only 55% of our business with Shutters, blinds, security gates, curtains etc. making up the other 45% of our total sales,” Kleynhans said.

“We have a lot more than people realise and our suppliers have donated tonight’s prizes because of our continued business relationships.”

The prizes for the evening were awarded through a business card lucky draw with attendees walking away with such fabulous prizes as a custom-made security shutter from American Shutters, security trellis door from Traxdors, resonant carpet from Flooring Network, a rug from Top Carpets, laminate flooring from Finfloor, curtains from Stuart Graham, blinds from Blinds Quip, blinds from Luxaflex, as well as new product, designer wood wall cladding from Azura.

There were additional prizes in the form of two cooler bags and three laser measuring devices.

“Thanks to my sponsors, we have had business relations for a long time and you can see that we are not just carpets and floors: we have much more and I hope this has been an eyeopener to see the products we sell,” Kleynhans said.
