Help spread the joy with Santa Shoeboxes

- MARK CARRELS

Christmas can be a sad and lonely time for cash-strapped pensioners.

Talk of the Town, together with Edge Financial Group, Multi Security, Rosehill & Sunshine Coast SPAR and Pick n Pay Port Alfred are once again coordinating a Santa Seniors Shoebox collection to make Christmas a happier season for the elderly.

Every year, our senior citizens are overjoyed by the shoebox surprise filled with various items that can add some cheer to their Christmas.

Ndlambe residents always digs deep in their pockets in a true spirit of generosity to help fill up the shoeboxes.

And there’s no doubt they will demonstrate their goodwill once again to assist our needy seniors.

Here’s what is needed:

Toiletries, moisturising creams, soaps, razors, perfume, deodorant, socks, bed socks, handkerchiefs, scarves, beanies, small blankets (knee rugs), sweets, biscuits, non-perishable foodstuffs such as tea, sugar, cup-a-soups, small bags of washing powder (for handwashing), brushes, combs, writing pads, pens, mugs, playing cards and anything else an older person might appreciate.

Shoeboxes – ready decorated or plain – wrapping paper and ribbon. Bags that can be reused are also needed.

Monetary donations received will be used to buy items to make up the parcels.

Please drop off your donated items at the Talk of the Town offices in Miles St, Port Alfred.

Items can also be delivered to Edge Financial and Multi Security Offices in Van der Riet Street or put into trolleys at Rosehill SUPERSPAR, Pick n Pay Port Alfred and Sunshine Coast SPAR in Kenton-on-Sea.

With your help, we can spread the love wider for the elderly in our community with Santa Seniors Shoeboxes.
