A tradition of excellence
Pearson High School prides itself on having a tradition as a school of excellence for 97 years in academics, sport and on the cultural front.
Pearson is a dual-medium (English and Afrikaans) school that offers its pupils an excellent academic standard, a wide variety of extracurricular activities, cultural opportunities and spiritual guidance.
Each of our approximately 1,200 pupils is guaranteed to find a space where they can excel in their own capacity.
Pearson proudly boasts annual top achievers in the matric exams, with at least two of our matrics in the top three pupils in the Eastern Cape, provincial cluster or PE District, with a highlight being Reynhardt Buys who achieved first position in SA in 2020.
Pearson also offers a wide range of sports including rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, water polo, golf, biathlon, swimming and cycling.
Pearson is one of the few schools in the Eastern Cape that has two hockey astro turfs, a heated swimming pool, cricket nets and pristine cricket fields, and two rugby fields along with four netball courts on the school campus.
The school offers a modern health and fitness centre with two biokineticists, a clinical psychologist and rugby fitness coach on the campus.
Culturally, the pupils can choose from clubs and societies such as art club, angling society, dancesport and photographic arts.
With a new music centre unveiled in 2022, our music pupils are spoilt for choice.
Pearson now also offers a state of the art hostel for boys, where they can develop and grow in a dynamic and friendly environment. We ensure that our boys have a home-awayfrom-home experience.
The boutique hostel caters for 32 boys with free WiFi and DSTV, and full access to the gym on campus.
The hostel is secure with fingerprint access to the hostel, and all rooms have a unique code at the door with no-key access. Each room is also fitted with a safe.
The hostel has qualified management supervision with a hostel matron and master on site for pastoral care and emergencies. The hostel has a communal lounge and entertainment area.
There is a structured daily routine for the boys which includes prayers, meals, compulsory homework and study times, and a lights out time each evening.
