Four parkrunner­s on Saturday are within 20 parkruns of their next hundred mark. Natasha Agnew has completed 192 and has just eight to go to her 200th, while approachin­g their 100th parkruns are Tonderai Musarurwa (93), Natash Musarurwa (84) and Orrin Snelgar (83).

Parkruns are held at 8am each Saturday from the entrance to the botanical gardens in Lucas Avenue.

At PJ Olivier High School’s annual prizegivin­g function in the Neels Heunis Hall last Friday, Marcelle Schoonbee was named sportswoma­n of the year and CJ Saterdag the sportsman of the year.

Schoonbee was also named U19 netball player of the year and was the senior tennis champion, while Saterdag was also senior rugby player of the year and senior victor ludorum.

In spring cleaning his garage recently, a reader came across an undated list of entrants and starting times of an OD Inggs Memorial Run held in the Albany district 15 to 20 years ago.

On that occasion the field comprised 21 cars ranging from an older 1930 Austin 12/4 to a much younger 1979 Mercedes Benz 250SE.

Among the local entrants were Neville Koch (driver) and Susan Koch (navigator) in a 1975 Alfa Romeo Spider, Graham Samuel (driver) and Carel Buchner (navigator) in a 1950 MG TD, and Norbert Drager (driver) and Trevor Hoole (navigator) in a 1964 Porsche 356C.

Other cars competing in the event included a 1963 Ford Anglia, 1960 Borgward Isabella, 1960 Volvo 122S, 1972 Rolls Royce, 1948 Buick 56S, 1940 Mercury Sedan, 1958 Citroen ID19 and 1955 Morris Mini.
