Trollip launches 5 branches in Ndlambe area
ActionSA aims to contest all wards
“It was a good day with strong attendance of a public meeting in Kenton and a great street meeting in Marselle,” ActionSA’s provincial chair Athol Trollip, said in interview after his visit to the Kenton-on-Sea area last weekend.
The visit is part of the party’s plan to extend its reach in the Eastern Cape and specifically Ndlambe, to pave the way to its future.
“We have established five branches in five of the 10 wards in Ndlambe and plan to have branches in all 10 wards before the 2024 elections,” Trollip said.
“The response to ActionSA has been overwhelming in Ndlambe but we still need to get to all the areas of the municipality.
“Our planned meeting in Ekhuphumleni did not take place as Friday evening was probably not the best time, but we did get a reasonable response there from our presence and previous door-to-door campaigns where we recruited members,” Trollip said.
ActionSA will contest all nine provinces in next year’s election and aim to establish branches in 70% of all wards before their first electoral conference, which will take place within six months of the election.
“We have established provincial leadership in all nine provinces, and we have a footprint right across the Eastern Cape,” Trollip said.
There are regional chairs in each demarcated district of which there are six: Amathole, Sarah Baartman, Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi, Alfred Nzo and OR Tambo).
The two metros, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Buffalo City Municipality are included.
“Then we have sub regional representation in each municipality, and we have divided the metros into four sub regions each.
“These representatives make up the provincial executive including representatives from our ancillary bodies, the woman’s forum, youth forum and people living with disabilities,” Trollip explained.
Trollip said ActionSA was a party that offered a credible alternative to the ANC and the DA, and that it was committed to fighting corruption, creating jobs, delivering services, and empowering citizens.
It is not long before the next elections, when the results will show what the electorate feel about the plans and whether voters will pave the way for ActionSA’s future.
