An expression in rhyme
Inspired by our Rugby World Cup win
We’ve found a way … Hooray! Hooray!
A future to harness and “hope” to display
Let’s use the principals of this glorious game
And implement all to create a new frame
Let’s mimic the moves to the highest degree
In all that we do from A to Zee
In government, in workplaces, in relationships, too
It’s a much bigger project that we are compelled to do
Discipline is the key … respect and honour
From you on to me
It takes courage, resilience
A passion and a will
A love for the game and an intensity of skill Fortitude is not an illusion It is a great strength of mind It’s a determination of a very special kind
So, with the eye on the ball and a clear-cut intent
We can swing it, or scrum it without any relent
Let’s recall and remember the need that we had
For the TRC to erase “all the bad”
This was truth telling and reconciliation
It came with apologies and humiliation
Where are we now? And what have we done?
It’s the Comrades Marathon that we have not yet run
Now it’s time yet again to be brave
So, with unity and enthusiasm and a Mexican wave
Surrender! Let us better behave!
Be done with frustration Seek only excellence for our nation
We need to comprehend that we really do need to mend
It’s another beginning, it’s not yet the end
Stop skullduggery, dishonesty, and greed —
A difficult measure if we want to succeed
So yes, indeed, let’s take cognisance and heed
Choose someone dynamic to take the lead
We do need TV technicalities, also the strict refs
We need different opinions to put queries to rest
Let’s elevate our players They always give their best
They learn from instruction to galvanise the rest
So, pass the ball wide, lengthen your stride
Be tactical and clever, never give up … no never!
Always seek direction and the winning goal
Retain, importantly, your innermost soul
Let’s feed it and sustain it It’s a process to embark We’re tired of the blackouts, And being in the dark Practice makes perfect It’s a ladder of ascent Don’t ever waste opportunities
This is rapid descent Rather act hastily
Let’s remain worldrenowned
We never want to weaken Nor wilt or pull each other down
