Vusithemba making difference in children’s lives

- Vusithemba Community Development Programme

was established in February 2023 by Rose Daweti. After many years of facilitating community projects and being motivated by the Kuyasa Combined School’s 100% matric pass rate last year, she felt the need to provide a strong foundation for children in underprivileged circumstances.

Vusithemba’s focus this year was assisting children with their homework assignments. This is a community programme that aims to grow, nurture and develop pupils through literature, life skills, providing a safe space and education on financial well-being.

This year alone, we have established a literacy programme where we promote reading with understanding where Sheryl Bradfield assists our little ones every Monday afternoon.

Vusithemba has had the privilege of experiencing the Bathurst Agricultural Show and would like to thank the organisers. We thank Ndlambe

Municipality for assisting us with transport to the show.

We would like to further extend our thank you to SpecSavers Port Alfred who conducted free eye tests to our children and proceeded to give them spectacles to help them with improved eyesight.

We further extend another ‘thank you’ to Hyman van Zyl of the Sunshine

Life Forum, for inviting our children to the tennis clinic held in Port Alfred as well as swimming lessons that were conducted by the NSRI.

We thank every individual who has donated books, stationery, equipment as well as refreshments for our children.

We wish the class of 2023 well with their school results and hope to see them again next year!
