Investments in technology, training, benefit Multi customers

Multi Security has had a bumper year of combating crime.

We have seen our control room receive South African Intruder Detection Services Association (Saidsa) status again and it’s clear that investing in a state-ofthe-art CCTV monitoring system has contributed greatly to this success.

The only such system in the area, it allows us to monitor cameras from multiple sources and locations in our control room.

These include our licence plate recognition (LPR) cameras and neighbourhood project.

We have been able to use the information gathered from these cameras to detect and respond to criminal activity quickly and effectively.

We have seen a high number of arrests made by our officers over the years and are proud to say we are the only firearm-carrying company in Port Alfred.

Our technical team members are all qualified and have completed Saidsaaccredited technical courses.

Multi Security is key to Sunshine Coast Tourism’s Port Alfred East Beach guard project, which has been a great success.

This year saw the launch of the Multi Security dog unit with Max, our trained German shepherd, under Clinton Millard’s handling, introduced into the field.

We have been involved with large abalone and poaching arrests, and in addition to the towns, we protect our coastline and farming areas.

As a community security company we have worked hand-in-hand with Sunshine Coast Tourism, the Port Alfred Business Forum and the Community Policing Forums (CPFs).

We have collaborated on various projects with the Port Alfred Lions, Round Table and Rotary and have conducted self-defence classes for girls and women in town and the rural areas.

Multi Security is certified as fully compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act.

We manage our large CCTV network in compliance with the Act.

There have to be a few low points. One of our officers was attacked with a knife and stabbed several times.

We have seen an increase in house fires and have seen the effects of petty crime in our neighbourhoods.

We continue to be proactive and conduct regular operations in collaboration with the SAPS.

Our staff continuously undergo training and we continue to grow our technology footprint.

We look forward to introducing a larger dog unit; more CCTV monitoring cameras; and a new fleet of vehicles allowing us to attend to our alarms fast.

Guarding has been a relatively small part of our business; but we will be growing this in the year to come.

In the new year, we will see our new monitoring software rolling out: if your alarm is the type that is connected to video, it will send videos to our control room on activation. This will improve our response time and minimise false alarms.

As our team grows stronger, we look forward to working with the community for a safer Ndlambe.
