Here to care for your and your family’s wellbeing

-

The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as “not simply the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing.”

We are, after all, not just biological creatures, but emotional and spiritual too.

Staying healthy can seem complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. Some simple tips about how to maintain your gut health, the importance of sleep, and an exercise plan that’s fun (Parkrun anyone?) can make all the difference. Of course, mental health is important too.

At the heart of Dr Taryn Gaunt’s practice is “people caring for people”.

She readily admits that her favourite patients are the “little people ”– she loves building a rapport with kids, and has spent much of her career overseeing the child health service at Zithulele Hospital in the former Transkei.

The real joy of being in general practice is looking after people, their families and communities, she says.

The practice, therefore, has a strong emphasis on helping make you feel at home – from Tracey and Margaret at the front desk, to Trish keeping things neat and tidy, to the décor and setting (please help yourself to tea and coffee).

The “big idea” is to journey with you as you seek health. Sometimes that means needing an urgent doctor’s consult when you have an emergency.

Dr Gaunt has an all-hours phone number, as well as a partnership with the other GPs in town, providing weekend cover.

And sometimes that means proactively seeking health – following up that pap smear you’ve been meaning to do, getting your prostate blood test done, or speaking to someone about the stress and anxiety you’ve been bottling up.

You are welcome to make an appointment to explore what living healthily can look like for you.
