The mixed drawn pairs is reaching the end with the next round having been played yesterday.
With some players not available last Wednesday, Jaco van Rensburg and Ilse Strombeck played Mike Connellan and Edie van Rensburg on the Tuesday with Jaco and Ilse the winners.
Then on Wednesday last week, Bryan Burger and Gail Webster beat Fred Stowe and Yvonne Surtees; Hein Strombeck and Joanne van Rensburg overcame Julie Sluziuk and Bill Wragg; while Brian McLean and Gina Thomson beat Ron Orford and Anna Strombeck.
Yesterday, Brian and Gina clashed with Jaco and Ilse, with Hein and Joanne taking on Bryan and Gail in the semifinal.
Mary McLean was invited by her former club, the King Bowling Club, to play in their ladies pairs classic. On Saturday, five games of 10 ends were played with four played on Sunday. The 4-3-2-1 format gave every team a chance.
Mary and her partner ended sixth and pocketed R300, her entry fee. On Saturday, the Raduesponsored afternoon was played with Ron Orford (skip) and his team of Claire Bell, Fred Stowe and John Thomson the winners, with Boela Burger (skip), Joan Jacobs, Anna Strombeck and Colin Barnard the runners-up.
This Saturday will see the marker’s course being conducted by Grumpy Enslin at this club while the annual GBS-sponsored event is to be played on Sunday.
The Timm and Vroom Cup is set to be played at the Kowie BC on Wednesday March 13.

On Tuesday, the bragging rights for the afternoon’s tabs competition went to Peter May, David Kirk, Helise Hattingh and Lina Woodard.
There was another bumper turnout for Wednesday morning ’ s Novice/Golden Oldies session.
Pam Golding sponsored day
Last Thursday was our monthly Pam Golding sponsored competition. A fantastic turnout competed for the generous Pam Golding hampers at stake.

Yonnie Hill and Rob Walker won the first prize hamper, with the second going to John Hubbard’s team of visitor Cecil Ker-Fox, Louise Fleming and Nicole van der Merwe. Denny Richardson and his team of Lester Scriven, Sheena Warren and David Kirk took third spot hampers.
Pick n Pay Kowie Night League
Friday evening saw the second round of the popular Pick n Pay Kowie night league played under floodlights on the A and C greens.
The quality of bowling was top notch with games going down to the last bowl to see who was going
to win the 15-end battle. The winner in section A was team Kowie Toyota, and section B, the A1 Pre-owned Auto team. The overall league leaderboard shows Leach Pharmacy’s team is leading the competition on 20 points, with a shot difference of + 42.
The Air School team is in second spot on 19 points with a shot difference of +27. In third spot is the Kowie Toyota team with 19 points and a shot difference of +22. The third round will be played on Friday at 5.30 for 5.45pm. Saturday afternoon’s tabs competition was won by Andrew
Meyer and his team of Margie Thomas and our visitor, Cecil KerrFox. Lastly, the club wishes good bowling to Jackie Kriel, Megan Kriel, and Justin Louw who are representing EP in this week’s Inter Districts competition.

The penultimate round of the Kenton Business League played out on Monday to decide the contestants for the Grand Finale to be played today.
Seeff Super Thursday drew a substantial list of entries and the winners were skip Cecelia Immelman and her team of Kevin*
Sharp and Esme Berg. Social Saturday, with Robbies sponsoring the event: With 21 ends, three skins played, Rob Bowker and his team romped away with 10 +12, just eclipsing Pam Bowker and her team with their score on 10 + 10.
The matches for the club championship are up on the board with many categories and many matches to be played.
The newbies who play every Friday were augmented by 20 members in the first round of the Mad Hatters Friday Bowls, a novel competition where teams of three or four are drawn out of a hat.
