It’s summer time in Cape Town – there are beaches to be relaxed on, mountains to be hiked and eateries to be explored. As the V&A Waterfront has a large variety of restaurants, it is understandable tourists head there for some culinary satisfaction. However, the rest of the city has so much to offer the hungry wanderer. Another way to enjoy the culinary crafts is to do it as the Capetonians do.

Here are some of the finest eateries off the beaten track where you’ll find the locals hanging out.

1. Bedouin Café & Deli

With recipes that come from the Bedouin lands, this lovely restaurant and deli adds a different taste to the Cape Town foodie roster. In just over a year of running, the venue proved to be so popular among Capetonians it had to move to larger, more spacious premises in the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village. At Bedouin, all foods are prepared fresh daily and feature their delicious signature homemade labneh cream cheese. If you can’t get enough of the labneh, you can take some home in a jar.
