SERIES: DISCOVER DIGITAL ACQUIRES TITLE NAMING RIGHTS

Fans arriving on a motorcycle with a tin of food will get free entry, and the food will be given to charities.

This year’s South African Motorcycle racing championsh­ip has found an overall sponsor. The Discover Digital company has acquired the title naming rights for the series. The company intends to use the platform to promote its Digital Entertainm­ent on Demand, VOD and Linear streaming platform services on the African continent.

Discover Digital’s executive head of commercial, Dale Rosenberg, said: “We intend to integrate racing coverage into our digital content catalogues, which will help showcase our new Digital Entertainm­ent on Demand (DEOD) products and services.

“We see our partnershi­p with the SuperGP Champions Trophy to be long term and strategic, and look forward to 2015.”

Gugu Zulu, executive director of GAS Sports, the promoters of the SuperGP Championsh­ip, added that motorcycli­sts who arrive at any of the SuperGP rounds on a motorcycle before 10am on race day will be granted free admission to the event in exchange for a tin of food.

Pillion passengers will also be admitted to the event free of charge provided they donate a tin of food.

The food collected will be distribute­d to charities in the area close to each circuit, either on race day or the Monday following the race.

The initiative will kick off at the opening round of the 2015 DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy which takes place at the Phakisa Freeway, between Welkom and Odendaalsr­us in the Free State, on March 22 next year.
