Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane (right) is determined to bring the Absa Premiership trophy back to Chloorkop next season.

“Jingles” warned newly crowned champions Kaizer Chiefs of his resolve after Sundowns beat cross-town rivals SuperSport United 2-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Mosimane was pleased with his side’s performance.

Mzikayise Mashaba bagged a brace for Sundowns and Matsatsantsa replied through New Zealander Jeremy Brockie, who got his sixth league goal since joining SuperSport this year.

The result, combined with Orlando Pirates’ failure to beat Maritzburg United, confirmed Sundowns as league runners-up and gave them a place in the 2016 Caf Champions League.

“This is how derby’s should be,” said Mosimane.

“There must be goals and a lot of action for the fans. Once again, congratulations to Kaizer Chiefs, but we will go for it next season.

“We won when it mattered most ... we needed this position.”

Sundowns have one more league game left this season, at home to another Tshwane rival, the University of Pretoria tomorrow.

They then take on Ajax Cape Town on May 16 in the Nedbank Cup final at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

For Matsatsantsa coach Gordon Igesund, victory on Wednesday would have cemented a spot in next season’s MTN8.

SuperSport are seventh on the log on 38 points, one point clear of Maritzburg United and Free State Stars. in eighth and ninth places respectively. United’s last game of the season is at Polokwane City tomorrow.
