Value with Sprinting Queen

FORM: GEOFF WOODRUFF’S CHARGE IS UNBEATEN OVER THE COURSE AND DISTANCE

- Jack Milner

Be Mine Tonight, Maria Theresa look the main dangers.

Mathew de Kock seemed to have a high opinion of Alice Springs following her last win so any runner who finished close up to her must have some ability.

That was the case with Sprinting Queen who finished fourth in that race over 1600m on the Turffontein standside track, beaten just 2.30 lengths. But this Australian-bred daughter of Myboycharlie appears to be even better when racing on the inside track.

She is unbeaten in two runs over 1450m at the track so when she lines up for Race 5, a FM 85 Handicap over the course and distance tomorrow, Geoff Woodruff’s charge has to be a contender.

Be Mine Tonight, Maria Theresa and Sprinting Queen ran behind Whatalady in the Grade 3 Acacia Handicap over 1600m on the standside track and although Be Mine Tonight and Maria Theresa finished ahead of Sprinting Queen, there is a decent weight turnover in favour of the Woodruff runner. She is 2kg better off with De Kock’s charge for a threelength beating and only 1kg better off with Be Mine Tonight for a 4.25-length beating.

However, take into account the drop in distance, the change in track and the draws, and the whole picture changes. Sprinting Queen jumps from barrier No 2 while Be Mine Tonight has No 11 draw. Maria Theresa could find the distance too short.

?? ?? TRACK SUITED. Sprinting Queen is unbeaten in two starts over 1450m on the Turffontein inside track and the Geoff Woodruff-trained runner could make it three from three in Race 5 tomorrow.
