Bacon and eggs for breakfast

Trainer Dennis Drier has his yard in fine form and he does especially well at Scottsville so it is Breakfast Club I am siding with in Race 8, a MR 80 Handicap over 1400m on Sunday.

This Visionaire gelding has only had four starts and won his last two outings.

A merit-rating of 68 was given to Breakfast Club after his maiden win over Hejira in June and that was quickly exploited as the four-year-old gelding proved far too good for Let’s Go West by two lengths.

A six-point rise to 74 might make it a bit harder for Breakfast Club but from a very good draw jockey Sean Veale could get the run of the race.

Both of Breakfast Club’s wins were on the Polytrack but Breakfast Club has did finish runner-up behind One O Won on the turf in April.

Baltic Amber could be a threat as the Alado gelding has shown promise and bounced back to win his latest start.

Jockey Muzi Yeni gave him a cracking start-to-finish ride last time and looked likely to be caught and passed by Pirogue but Baltic Amber did just enough to win by a head.

That win was over 1600m at this course so the drop in distance might actually suit Baltic Amber and Yeni has been retained for the ride.

Hold The Line and Roy’s Taxi are two others who deserve consideration.

Hold The Line was not beaten far by Putchini over the course and distance last month.

Roy’s Taxi has been a bit of an unreliable sort but does have bits and pieces of reasonable form.
