Eradicating racism starts at the very top

Government needs to stop rubbishing colonialism, writes Henry from Fourways

Iam not going to abide by the call to unite behind TakeOnRacism until the head of the country and all down the structure stop making racist comments about anti white majority capital, anti colonialism and things like BBBEE without a sunset clause. And I encourage others not to support it as well.

Day to day anti racism is fine. This is, in fact, common sense but unfortunately is not practiced nearly enough. We all need to ensure this, but the call is very hollow when it is not practiced by the governing party and other politicians.

All capital coming into the country is good irrespective of colour as it creates jobs.

Colonialism brought huge benefits to SA albeit much of it at the time was based on greed and labour exploitation.

However, without it SA would be a starvation-ridden dust bowl like Somalia.

Even India, who benefited much less than SA from colonialism, since it does not have our mineral resources, has acknowledged that not all colonialism is bad.

In SA, who provided the capital to exploit our huge mineral reserves, paid the taxes to build the best infrastructure in Africa, build the agricultural sector – we largely feed ourselves and export a lot, weather permitting – the education, research, the medical services, the communication systems, radio, TV, the provision of energy, the justice system, police, the military, the transport systems, and, and, and.
