Follow Delpech and Marcus

- Jack Milner

Anthony Delpech and Anton Marcus are the two most prolific performers on the Polytrack at Greyville and they are way ahead of the opposition.

Both will be riding at Greyville today and although Marcus has only two rides, they look the jockeys to follow. Marcus teams up with trainer Dennis Drier in Race 5 and Garth Puller in Race 6 and it is the latter who looks the better of the pair. He has a good record when riding for former champion jockey Puller and Mr McSteamy could add another to their tally.

Marcus has ridden this son of King’s Chapel three times and won on him twice. Both of those, the only two victories recorded by this gelding, were over 1000m while the defeat was over 1200m.

Race 6 is a MR 66 Handicap over the minimum distance and with not much opposition of note, Mr McSteamy should be able to record his third victory.

Delpech has seven rides on the eight-race card and most of them appear to have a winning chance. The problem he could face is many of them have landed wide draws and with all races at Greyville run around the turn, that is far from ideal. Nevertheless, they tend to race a little wider on the Polytrack and that negates the poor barrier positions to some degree.

Delpech’s best ride could come up in Race 8, a MR 70 Handicap over 2000m, where he rides Selvan’s Jet for Alyson Wright.
