Lambie boost for Sharks

- Ken Borland

Springbok flyhalf Pat Lambie will be eased back into action off the bench as he was named yesterday among the replacements for the Sharks’ Super Rugby match against the Force in Durban tomorrow.

Lambie has been out of action for eight weeks after fracturing a vertebra in his lower back and his return is timely both for himself and for the Sharks, with Curwin Bosch named in the SA Under-20 squad for the Junior World Cup.

“We are delighted to have Pat back, he looks great. Curwin will attend an SA Under-20 training camp next week and probably won’t play against the Kings and is out of the game against the Sunwolves as well as the Stormers match,” Sharks coach Robert du Preez said yesterday.

There are four changes to the starting line-up that pulled off a wonderful win last weekend against the Jaguares in Buenos Aires, including the selection of Sibusiso Nkosi for his Super Rugby debut, as the Sharks need to rest Lwazi Mvovo.

Kobus van Wyk is also back on the right wing, replacing Odwa Ndungane, whose experience was valuable in Argentina, while firstchoice tight forwards Coenie and Etienne Oosthuizen also return to the starting line-up after a breather on the bench last weekend.

Thomas du Toit will be the starting loosehead prop after his storming display against the Jaguares, ahead of Tendai Mtawarira, who returns on the bench.
