Boomerang is pleased to announce that the winner of their first mobile, mini zoo school activation competition, Boomerang Mini Zoo, was seven-year-old

Unam Mbane from Craighall Primary School in Rothesay Avenue, Craighall Park.

Not only didi Unam win a Mini Zoo visit for her school, but as part of her prize, she nominated Craighall Primary’s sister school, Parkhurst Primary, to receive a Boomerang mini zoo too!

Craighall and Parkhurst Primary received an unexpected visit from the channels ambassadors Tom and Jerry, along with one of the most extraordinary mobile zoos in South Africa to bring Unam’s classmates the first interactive and fun animal learning experience of its kind in South Africa.

“I was so excited when I heard that the Mini Zoo was coming to my school. I can’t believe they picked me,” said Unam Mbane.

“I was a princess for the day like Marina the mermaid from Zig and Sharko. I even won the mini quiz. I really loved the dog Scooby and learned that you must not feed your dog dirty water or chocolate, or raisins – he will get very sick.”

The winners got to sing and interact with some of smaller furry and four-legged wonders under the supervision of an animal speThe cialist, they also learnt about related animal family and received a one-of-a-kind activity book that promised to immerse them deeper into the animal kingdom.

A series of edutainment tutorials is currently broadcasted on DStv 302, providing kids with interesting information and fun facts on their favourite pets and animals. Children will also be able to find an array of fun facts on animals, along with cool animal-related activities and games, on Boomerang Africa’s website

“We really love this initiative. Here at Boomerang we believe in educating our audience in a unique, fun and interactive way, through exciting content.

“We believe that children have a special kind of love for animals and get excited when they get to play and interact with them,” says Pierre Branco, Turner Africa’s vice-president and general manager of Southern Europe and Africa.
