Dear Doctor I have a very strong and bad semen odour, how do I rectify it? Is there something I need to eat or stop consuming? Please help?

Hi sir A very strong, bad smell in your semen could be a sign of infection or just bad personal hygiene. If you are not circumcised it might be helpful to do that because dirt/smegma can build up under the foreskin and cause odour. Do you have any other symptoms like burning on urination? Urethral discharge? Lower abdominal pain? Consult your doctor so that an examination is conducted and treatment given.

Hi madam The pelvic floor muscles can be damaged during child birth or any other surgical procedures. Urinary incontinence can result as a complication. Please consult the gynecologist and urologist for further management which might include surgery to correct any abnormalities.

Hi sir Having a feeling and just being aware without confirmation can be harmful. Have you done tests to confirm sperm count, sperm morphology and excluded any other sperm abnormalities? I strongly advise you get these tests done to be sure. If the count is the problem the doctor will put you on testosterone therapy and monitor levels to help you get your fertility back.

Anon, kunjani Umhluzu? Have never heard of it. I have heard of Mpesu, used by the Venda people, but I hear that is more for performance than sperm count. Any medication that will boost your testosterone levels will improve your sperm count if it is subnormal. Your traditional healer should be the best person to advise. Please consult them for the best advice. Otherwise you can see your nearest GP and get your sperm count checked. If it needs boosting, the doctor will prescribe the meds.
