Single Kelly talks about romance and relationships
Multi-platinum Afro-pop singer Kelly Khumalo has added a new title to her name. Debuting as a weekday TV talk show host on provincial channel GauTV, available on DStv 265, Love and Matrimony seeks to find insights on relationships and romances from celebrities.
Speaking about the concept behind the show, Khumalo said: “The show is about love and matrimony and not only the positive side but also the breakups and the things that people learn in relationships. We also profile celebrities on their love lives and they share their experiences in love.”
Having had received media attention regarding her love life since her breakout into the music industry, Khumalo seems suited to be vocal about what love is. However, when questioned about her current relationship status, the singer said: “I am single and therefore I wouldn’t think I am the right person for a show like this, simply because I think one should be in love to talk about it. However, God knows best and I find myself hosting.
“I have had my share of good and bad in love together with the beautiful moments all of which are in my music, so it was not a surprise to me when I found out that the show was inspired by my song Thando. I think because of the way I sing about love, the director saw to it that I get this opportunity.”
The eager Khumalo has set her sights on learning and developing her new talent, which was evident in the preparation she put into reading and understanding her script.
With YFM drive time host, DJ Sabby, as one of the first few guests on the show, Khumalo made it clear that there would be no “bashing” but rather an authentic conversation between two adults about the love they share with and for their spouses,
“This is a conversation between my guest and I about our experiences while in and out of love.”
Sabby, who recently celebrated the birth of his son Nkosingiphile Orifha, seemed rather excited to share in detail how being a new father has been to date.
