Adams to rock Sun Arena

Iconic star performs at Menlyn as part of his Get Up! world tour.

On the back of the announceme­nt that iconic rock band +LIVE+ will be the first internatio­nal act to perform at the new Sun Arena at Time Square in Menlyn, legendary Bryan Adams, pictured, has also been confirmed to grace its stage on December 10 as part of his Get Up! World Tour.

“We promised more exciting announceme­nts as we confirm our super-charged opening lineup for the festive season. We are thrilled to confirm that Bryan Adams will be performing at the new Sun Arena in December,” says Brett Hoppe, the general manager of Time Square.

The state-of-the-art Sun Arena is set to open in November and an array of world-class acts are being billed to perform. The only venue of its kind in Pretoria, the 8 500-seat Sun Arena will host internatio­nal and local concerts, exhibition­s and lifestyle events – marking a new era in entertainm­ent for the area.

Adams fans can brace for spectacula­r concert featuring his top hits and songs from his 13th studio album Get Up! For the new album, he reunited with his original songwritin­g collaborat­or, Jim Vallance, and newly connected to producer Jeff Lynne. Vallance was Bryan’s co-writer on some of the most important songs of his career: Cuts Like a Knife, Somebody, Summer of 69, Heaven and Run To You among half a hundred others.

Adams has spent the past three decades making music history. He has sold more than 65 million records, toured six continents and achieved #1 status in more than 40 countries around the world. With hits like Cuts Like A Knife, Summer of ’69, Kids Wanna Rock, Can’t Stop This Thing We’ve Started, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, Open Road and Thought I’d Seen Everything, Adams’ status as one of the great songwriter’s of our time has been solidified with a Grammy Award, 18 Juno Awards and an American Music Award. He has also been nominated for three Academy Awards and five Golden Globes.

Adams’ outstandin­g live concerts have establishe­d him as one of the world’s great rock singers, performing more than 120 concerts a year. Commenting on his latest album, Get Up!, Adams says: “I wanted to always make records that are completely true to me”.
