Celebrate Volks Day

-

The friendly VW people invite you to participate in the third annual VW event at Idle Winds this Saturday.

So, what do Vdubs and Model Ts have in common? Well this year they celebrate the fact that 45 years ago, in 1972, beetle number 15 007 034 left the production line in Wolfsburg, so breaking the Model T Ford’s 45-year-old record as the most produced single model in automotive history.

This is a one-day event, and they invite all classic VWs, of course, as well as all Fords, especially Model Ts, Model As and Model Ns. All classics are welcome! If clubs or groups would like to prebook, they will demarcate an area for them.

There will once again be a market, food stalls, fun competitions and more. There are many prizes, thanks to Volkswagen, Wynn’s, TraceTec and GUD.

Caricature artist Tony Bloemstein will also be there to do your portrait while you wait. There is again live music. Historian John Lemon will be giving another of his fabulous presentations, this time on

the De Havilland Comet Blazer – he will be flown up from PE courtesy of Trace Tec.

Capital Air is planning to be there for helicopter rides! There is a special on their prebookings at R150 per flip.

There will be a very special fundraising event with Border Collie Rescue as beneficiary. Ladies! Bring your unused bras! Hang them on the line, donate R5 for the charity and get a “I went bra-less” sticker…
