Ever wondered what the following celebs have in common – leading female hip-hop rapper and Vuzu presenter Nomuzi Mabena; The Expensive Breakfast show host and comedian Nina Hastie; and Kool in the city founder and rapper Sizwe Moeketsi (better known as Reason)? Here is a guess: It is how the trio get down and dirty when they find themselves on the coast of KwaZulu-Natal – regardless of it being the biggest weekend on the SA social calendar, the Vodacom Durban July.

For Mabena, having three outfits from Joburg-based designer IvyLilly Couture, provides definite options as she hosts one of the largest pop-cultured TV shows – V-Entertainment – on DStv’s Vuzu channel.

Not only will this talented young beauty be on live broadcast from the Greyville racecourse today but fans will get the opportunity to witness her chart-topping hits in action on the Boom Town stage before she heads out to host the Durban Tourism Marquee.

Rapper Reason, who recently turned 30, will be celebrating his new age bracket with a national tour, titled Reason Love Girls, dedicated to his large female fan-base.

The tour, which kickstarted its first leg in Sandton, will be making its way to the South Coast, and will include performances at clubs between Ballito and Durban, ending in the Kaleidoscope marquee at the Vodacom Durban July.

Draped in a Sarton Milano suit, Reason’s rough-aroundthe-edges personality will find itself softened a bit thanks to his designer cravat tie from a Eastgate Mall menswear store.

Comedian and newly dubbed “cool kid” Hastie is fast becoming a national sensation on the panel on SABC3’s Trend SA social media and lifestyle talk show.

She also co-hosts the breakfast show on Touch HD digital radio platform. As part of the digital platform, Hastie, dressed by young designer Scalo of Scalo Designs, will be among a long list of artists heading down to Durban for the Touch Durban Take Over, which takes place until tomorrow, with an exclusive yacht party thrown in.

The three together are proof that business and pleasure mix occasionally.

Whoever said you can’t have fun and still wear designer items surely didn’t know these three celebs.
