AmaZulu on a mission

-

A source at KwaZulu-Natal outfit AmaZulu says the club is still in the market for players after re-signing former defender Sadat Ouro-Akoriko, as well as Siyethemba Mnguni from Mbombela United and three players from Thanda Royal Zulu in goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha, Sduduzo Dlamini and Jabulani Ncobeni. “The aim is to have a strong squad that will be able to compete in the Absa Premiership. We don’t want to find ourselves in a situation whereby we are fighting to stay in top-flight football towards the end of the season. Our objective is clear, we want to remain in the Premiership, so we are continuing to strengthen our side because we have to assemble a formidable team,” said the source. Billiat weighing up his options

Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Khama Billiat (above) is once again the subject of speculation with an overseas team said to have made an offer for the 27-year-old.

understands that the Zimbabwean maestro has yet to commit himself to a new long-term deal with the Brazilians. The Zimbabwean was linked to English side Swansea City, but it did not materialise. “Billiat is still waiting to see if there will be offers coming from abroad before making a decision whether to stay with Sundowns,” said a source close to the player.

Dean Furman (above) is confident his team have enough depth and quality to go all the way and win the Caf Confederation Cup. “The squad is more than capable of going a long way in this tournament,” said the inspirational SuperSport United skipper. “We have got a squad to compete pretty much like we have done all season, and taking the team into African tournaments is difficult. But certainly the big games led us to believe that we could compete at this level and we’ve got the confidence to do so,” he said.

SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler (above) has not decided on whom to select for his additional Caf Confederation Cup spots after advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in their history. He has also revealed he would be taking a look at a few players who are on trial with the team this week. “We haven’t as yet decided on the registrations. We have got a few players we are bringing in this week. A few trialists will come in for us to have a look at, and we will then make the decision.”
