INLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS: TOPPING THE RACE CARD IS THE BEEMER ACTION
Superkart contenders to chase the circuit’s elusive first sub-60-second lap.
Round six of the 2017 Inland Championship will take place at the Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria this Saturday. With seven four-wheeler racing categories in action, heading up the show will be two races for Bridgestone BMW Club Racing Series drivers, with both the overall and class championships still very much up for grabs. Top fighters for overall victories will include Julian Fameliaris (Tower Crane BMW 328i Turbo), Lorenzo Gualtieri (Savspeed BMW 328i Turbo), Dino Fameliaris (C-Tech BMW M3 Turbo) and Stefano Martinelli (Dalucon BMW 328i Turbo).
Paulo Loureiro (J&K Customs BMW M3 GTS) will be the man to beat in Class B, chased by drivers like Riaan Woest (Viking BMW E46 M3 GTR), Rick Loureiro (CPW BMW E30 3,2 CSL) and Jason Page (ELB Construction BMW E36 328i Turbo).
The wide open Class C fight should see Philip Smit (Hi-Q BMW E46 M3), Willie Erasmus (Speed & Sound BMW E36 M3), Andreas Meier (BMW E36 M3), Len-Henry Gobey (Lesavert BMW E36 M3)
and Mike Grobler (Mayfair Gearbox BMW E46 M3) fight for front positions.
The Midvaal Historic Car Club races will see a large grid of widely diversified vehicles. Leading from the front should be drivers like Eugene Gouws (Firenza Can Am), Seef Fourie Senior (Datsun 160Y), Shawn Smidt (Datsun 160Y) and Andre de Lange (VW Jetta MK 1). Racing for class positions in the field and providing great spectacles should be Johan Coetzer Senior (Datsun GX), Brendon Parker (Datsun GX Coupe), Johan Coetzer Junior (Datsun GX), Rene van Rensburg (Ford Escort Mk2), Franz Jensen (Datsun 1200 GX), Jackie Morrison (Ford Escort) and Johan Prins (Datsun 160Y).
The INEX Legend races should see Richard Upton, Anro Stadler, Altan Bouw, Willie Erasmus, Richard van Heerden, Charl Roux, Shaun Nel and Anton Repsold fighting for podium places.
The Formula Monoposto brigade will feature competitors like Nicolas Zavallone (Speads RM08), John Maurien (VW Ray), Carel van Heerden (GTi Swift) and Sean Harrington (Ray Formula GTi).
The Yokohama Modified Production Car and Silver Cup categories will have contenders like Paul van Niekerk (VW Golf Mk 1 Turbo), Jeff Langeveldt (Honda CRX Turbo), Kenny Darroch (VW Golf Mk1), Don Mackay (VW Golf Mk1), Evert Seyffert (Chevrolet Firenza) and Brent Henshaw (Toyota Celica) fighting for the silverware.
The Big Boss Auto Super Saloons will put in an appearance with front runners like Devin Robertson (Bigg Boss Corvette), Riaan Draper (Auto Classic Peugeot 206), Richard Cooley (FSF Engineering Mazda RX8), Dawie Fourie (Cubenco 194 Tata Rotary) and Marius Jackson (MegaFibre Audi TT) on the grid.
