Calling all speed freaks
BMW CLUB: BECOME A TEAR-AWAY AT THE TRACK DAY IN DELMAS THIS SATURDAY
There will be driving instructors and experienced club members on standby.
The BMW Car Club of Gauteng will host one of its popular Track Days at the Red Star Raceway near Delmas this Saturday. The club has been arranging such events for its members since 1991, providing lots of driving fun and, impressively, a 100% safety record.
All owners of Beemers and other fast road or track cars are welcome to come and play, as long as you are a club member, which costs you just R350 a year.
If you wish to participate, visit www.bmwcarclub.co.za for eligibility and registration details.
Cars will be grouped into three different slots on track according to driver skill and ultimate pace. There will never be more than 20 cars on track at one time, meaning you will have space to breathe and perfect your lap. This might take you a while, since the Red Star Raceway is a highly complex piece of tarmac, with more twists and turns than the Zupta affair.
Whether you find the smooth, quick lines or just enjoy chucking your vehicle at lots of tight corners in quick succession, you should have a massive amount of fun. And Red Star has huge, grassy run-off areas, so getting it wrong generally means you get away without hitting solid things.
Bridgestone, the title sponsors of these events, will be on hand to talk to you about tyre choice and technical information.
There will be driving instructors and experienced club members on standby in case you need some pointers.
BMW Auto Alpina Boksburg and Bedfordview BMW will also be involved to show the latest products in the BMW showroom.
They will also have BMW Lifestyle Edited by André de Kock 010-492-5281 andrédk@citizen.co.za products on sale at the track.
The Bridgestone BMW Hot Lap Experience will offer you two flatout laps in a BMW with a professional driver for just R100. Long pants and sleeves will be mandatory for passengers.
The event will start at 8am, and spectator admission to Red Star will be free of charge.
