La Rav looks ready to roll at Chelmsford

London – There is some cracking prize money on offer at Chelmsford with La Rav looking primed to pick up a large slice of it in the totequadpot Handicap. Trained by Luca Cumani, having been unraced at two he has quickly made up for lost time.

Fifth of 10 in a decent Newmarket maiden in May, he has won his next two starts looking like a horse with a bright future. He broke his maiden at Salisbury in fine style, coming home 4.50 lengths clear. While that form can be picked apart, he proved next time out it was no fluke.

Admittedly it was only a small field at Newbury, but racing over 1600m after winning over 1400m the time before, he ran very keenly in front. Nevertheless, he put the race to bed a fair way out, winning by over three lengths.

He won his opening handicap off 85 and has been put up 4kg, but on just his fourth ever run he is one of the least exposed in the field and is trained by a man who excels with this type. A good run in this race could even see him enter the shake up for the Cambridgeshire.

A first-time visor might spark Roger Varian's Propser back to life in the totetrifecta Fillies' Handicap, another race with 25,000 pounds on offer. She looked promising earlier in the campaign when second to Son Of The Stars and winning at Sandown. Upped in class since, she has been ultimately disappointing but down in the handicap and with the headgear on might be the time to catch her.

Varian's Zeelander is exceptionally well bred and should step up markedly on his unplaced debut effort of last season in the #10 Free At 32Red.com Maiden at Nottingham.

Move To The Front is not one of Clive Cox's stable stars but starts life out of maidens on a fair looking mark in the Gallowgate Nursery Handicap at Leicester. He was staying on at the end of 1200m last time so this step up in trip to 1400m should suit.

Mark Johnston may have found a winnable opportunity for Pumblechook in the CNG Handicap at Catterick. A blatant nonstayer over 3600m last time, this 2800m is more within his compass. He could need the ground to dry up as his Newmarket win by 10 lengths came on quick ground. –
