Endurance season moves to KZN

THIS SATURDAY: LARGE AND VARIED FIELD EXPECTED AT DEZZI 3-HOUR RACE

Franco and Silvio Scribante will be victory favourites in their Chevron.

The KwaZulu Natal Dezzi Raceway outside Port Shepstone will host round four of the 2017 Mopar SA Endurance Series this Saturday.

The Arnold Chatz Cars Dezzi 3-Hour will see a large and varied field of sport, GT and saloon cars take to the tight, undulating and twisty circuit.

Topping the entry list and victory favourites should be Franco and Silvio Scribante in their Scribante Racing Chevron B26 Suzuki V8.

They will face serious competition from the Shelby-Ford V8 of Keegan, Jason and Rui Campos, plus other sports car teams like Fritz Kleynhans/James Forbes (Comenius Ligier-Honda JS49) and Mike Verrier/Wayne Jardine (AidCall247 Shelby Nissan),

Others in the prototype classes who could provide surprises must include Mike Schmidt/ Bruce Avern-Taplin (Bateleur NASH-Volkswagen MVW3), Hennie Trollip/Clinton Thorne (Full Output Lotus Seven) and Eric Salomon/Dave Sinclair (Lessons ELF

S 06).

GT Class crews that could run in the top podium places should include Dave Alhadef/Martin Bensch/Chris Carolin (Panoz Esparante), Charl/Harry Arangies (Stradale Ferrari 430), Gavin Cronje/Simon Murray (Stradale Lamborghini Gallardo), Tony Martin/Duncan Day (Backdraft Cobra), Sun Moodley/Andrew Culbert (Bigfoot Express Porsche 991 GT3), Piet Bredenhann/Mike McLoughlin/Mark Owens (Backdraft Cobra) and Greg Parton/ Jaki Scheckter (Lamborghini Huracan).

Heading up a large saloon car contingent will be crews like current championship leaders Darren Winterboer/Kris Budnik (Barons Motor Spares BMW 335i), Bradley Scorer/Theo Van Vuuren (Arnold Chatz Alfa Romeo Giulietta), Alex/Andre Johnson (Executive Audi A4) and Steve Truter/ Wayne Lotter (Sasolburg Autobody BMW M3).

Proven giant-killers will include Dewald Brummer/Bevan Williams (Fuchs Volkswagen Golf 1 GTI), Adrian Dalton/Wayne Lebotschy (Shield Extra Clothing Golf 1) and Jonathan/Stuart Konig Konig (Volkswagen Mk 11 Golf GTI). – Endurance racing correspondent
