ANC needs will and backbone
Government policy, corruption, and wastage has resulted in no growth, massive debt, lack of investment, frightening levels of unemployment, unsustainable poverty and an angry and violence-racked society.
We are faced with higher taxes, removal of medical tax rebates, huge power increase costs by a corrupt, compromised and wasteful Eskom, as well as potential water shortages.
Throw in the corruption and mismanagement of our stateowned enterprises and we have a perfect formula for state failure.
All of this will create lower consumer spending, higher inflation, more job losses and increased poverty. What is next? Surely food riots are a distinct possibility.
So what is the solution? We need major changes at the top. We need a government that stops looting and wasting and creates an investment climate.
Business will then invest and create jobs – lots of them.
None of this is in the hands of our president who has, time and again, proved that he has neither the will, nor the ability to change anything for the better.
But the ANC certainly can change the current downward spiral. The intellect and ability is there. However, are the will and backbone present?
What do you say, deputy president? D Wolpert, Sunninghill
