Odaiba can notch his second win

There is a Pick 6 carryover to today’s meeting at Fairview and the bet could pay well for those clever enough to catch it.

Odaiba could add to Pick 6 players’ kitties when he lines up in Race 2 over 1000m.

Trainer Gavin Smith’s decision to use 4kg-claiming apprentice Liam Tarentaal on Odaiba has paid off and could result in a second win being added to their tally.

Smith gave Tarentaal the ride at the end of May in Odaiba’s fifth career start. That was the three-yearold’s first run on the Polytrack and the son of Sail From Seattle has not missed a place since.

In his debut on the surface he stayed on late for third, 5.25 lengths behind Gizmo over 1200m. He did even better next time out, when perhaps hitting the front too soon and getting overhauled by 2.75-length winner Battle Creek. He made no mistakes next time, justifying strong support to beat Run For Your Life over that course and distance.

Then stepping up in class, Odaiba and Tarentaal just lacked for finish late in a 1200m MR 72 Handicap, finishing fourth behind For Luck Sake.

Odaiba tries 200m less for the first time in his career but given he has often plodded late, the shorter trip might be a good idea..

Kingston Warren might be second best. He shed his maiden tag at the third attempt and tried the Polytrack last time showing good pace before tiring late.
