Beneath African Skies

To be presented at The Peoples Theatre from September 4 to October 8, the aim of this production is to introduce the joy of live theatre to young audiences.

The emphasis is on the value of books and reading with an emphasis on African storytelli­ng.

The Old Man and The Sea

In this theatrical re-imagining of Ernest Hemingway’s classic novel you can expect classic themes of life, presented in new, eye-popping ways. The show runs from September 19 to October 7 at Auto & General Theatre on the Square in Sandton.

Tamasha on Hope Street

This brand-new cutting-edge production by award-winning playwright Rajesh Gopie will have its world premiere at the Market Theatre on September 8.

Gopie is one of South Africa’s best exports who creates hard-hitting production­s every time he pens a play.

Tamasha on Hope Street has been strategica­lly selected to celebrate Heritage Month because a core feature in the production are the traditions and cultures of the Indian community of South Africa. The show closes on October 1.

Die Reuk van Appels

Die Reuk van Appels is the comingof-age story of Marnus Erasmus, 11-year-old son of a South African Defence Force (SADF) general.

It eloquently captures the Afrikaner mentality in the late ’70s and early ’80s and the brutal consequenc­es of apartheid and militarisa­tion of South African life. The show runs from tomorrow until September 24.

Hashtag Lo ering

Catch Marc Lottering sharing his hysterical views on to social media, reality shows, well-groomed shop assistants and ICU patients, to mention but a few topics. Lottering has been in the funny business for nearly two decades and is a firm favourite with South Africans at home and abroad. This is the final season of the show.
