The transfer window slammed shut on Thursday night in South Africa and in many leagues across Europe. Football editor Jonty Mark takes a look at five notable transfers made on deadline day. Lebogang Manyama – Cape Town City to Konyaspor (Turkey) Manyama had been the subject of plenty of transfer speculation after a stellar 2015/16 campaign for City that saw him win the Footballer-of-the-Season Award. Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs were both linked with moves for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder, but in the end he got the overseas move he craved, with City agreeing a deal to sell him to Turkish side Konyaspor.

Bongani Zungu – Vitoria de Guimaraes (Portugal) to Amiens

(France) Zungu was another player to be linked to a host of clubs after an excellent first season in the Portuguese top flight with Guimaraes. In the end, it took until deadline to to get a deal through, with Amiens a slightly surprising choice for the former Sundowns midfielder. The French side will hope Zungu can help them stay in Ligue 1 after winning promotion last season. Rivaldo Coetzee – Ajax Cape Town to Mamelodi Sundowns After failing a medical with Glasgow Celtic, Coetzee was snapped up by Mamelodi Sundowns on deadline day, with Mario Booysen going the other way as part of the deal. The Bafana Bafana defender will now look to show Celtic what they missed out on, with Sundowns clearly confident enough that his foot injury is not that serious. Yazid Atouba – AS Vita to

Maritzburg United United have been the surprise package in South Africa so far this season, and they made a serious statement in the transfer window on deadline day too, when they snapped up Cameroonian attacking midfielder Yazid Atouba. Atouba, 24, comes in after Kurt Lentjies joined Chippa United in July. Sifiso Myeni – Bidvest Wits to

SuperSport United (loan) Myeni sealed a loan move to SuperSport on deadline day, where he will reunite with Eric Tinkler, who he has worked with over the years at both Orlando Pirates and Wits. The 29-year-old had found himself surplus to requirements at Gavin Hunt’s Wits, with the champions making a host of signings in the off-season.
