Phakamani Mahlambi (above) is all set to play for Cairo giants Al-Ahly this season after arriving in the Egyptian capital yesterday to complete his move. Bidvest Wits decided to accept their offer for the 19-year-old winger, who was said to be signing a five-year deal. Reports suggest that Al-Ahly offered around R17 million for the talented youngster. According to the website kingfut.

com, Al-Ahly were trying to get an extra foreign player after the Egyptian Football Associatio­n agreed to increase teams’ permitted foreign quota from three to four players. The Egyptian transfer window closes on September 14.

Another signing that could well be completed by the time you read this, is Lebogang Manyama’s move to Konyaspor in Turkey. A deal was agreed for Manyama to move to Konyaspor from Cape Town City before the Premier Soccer League’s deadline day, with the only delay being the fact that Manyama (above) was in camp with Bafana Bafana and was unable to have his medical until this week. Once that was completed, the Turkish side were expected to announce the signing of the 26-year-old attacking midfielder.

Free State Stars have confirmed that former Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele (above) has rejoined the club. Amakhosi released Manqele at the end of last season, and he impressed enough in a trial for Stars to snap him up. They have also signed another free agent in leftback Patrick Phungwayo, who recently had his contract terminated with Orlando Pirates by mutual consent. Both Manqele, 30 and Phungwayo, 29, will now hope to relaunch their careers.
