Pitso gushes over Tau brace

Pitso Mosimane praised Percy Tau’s brilliant performanc­e after the 23-year-old came off the bench to net two spectacula­r goals in either half in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 2-1 victory over Free State Stars on Monday night.

Mosimane says it is all down to the amount of practice Tau puts in on the training field.

Tau (above) came on after Anthony Laffor picked up an ankle injury, and he turned out to be the main difference between the two sides.

“I am happy for Percy. Once he shoots he scores, and we are busy telling him to stop dribbling. He was practicing that freekick and I am happy because he has been doing it all the time at training. Practice makes perfect,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV.

“I am happy for him, if he keeps trying to score, that is what we want. Sometimes he plays to dribble and to enjoy, but that was a very good performanc­e from him. It will put him in the Bafana squad if he plays like this,” he added.

The African Coach-of-the-Year made seven changes from his lineup that lost 2-1 to Polokwane City in their previous league match, opting to rest key men in preparatio­n for the Caf Champions League first-leg quarterfin­al against Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca on Sunday.

“Everybody must play and sometimes it is a risk for me as a coach to do that. But we have to do that because we have got the Champions League on Sunday and we need fresh legs and I don’t want more injuries.

“Anthony is on crutches, Khama Billiat is injured, Tiyani Mabunda is injured, and Kennedy Mweene is also injured. We have to make sure we look after the
