Ultimate design, décor destination

- Thami Kwazi

Kramerville – an area that transformed from an industrial space into an unexpected booming shopping district, attracting young and old. Originally established in 2005 with a vision by the property owners, who came together to transform the Sandton area into a business district to allow for factories to set up shop and create retail spaces that have since developed into bespoke furniture stores.

Tina White, who manages the district, spoke to Saturday Citizen and described the uniqueness of the area.

“Kramerville is the ultimate design and décor destination. It was transformed from a previously semi-industrial area to what it has now become, which is a safe décor district that’s open to the public and attracts many visitors,” says Tina.

The combination of private sector funding has allowed property owners to create and legislate a City Improvement District, as has been previously done with other areas in Johannesburg.

This also insured that the area became safer with private security, patrolled by Public Safety Ambassadors (PSAs) who not only provide safety for the public, but also have the necessary training and skills to equip them to be ambassadors for the area and maintain cleanliness.

Walking the streets of Kramerville, one can’t help but feel secure with the friendly and extremely helpful security patrolling the streets and assisting anyone who’s looking for a particular store or venue. You’re greeted with smiles and continual assistance. RNS Property and Facility management is the appointed management company of the Kramerville Management District led by White and her team.

White is hands-on and always willing to provide information and assistance to tenants and the public.

“We’ve managed to secure prominent names in the design and décor space and place them in one space, making the area an excellent business investment,” she explained.

The shift from industrial to retail has attracted the public to the area.

Whether to buy furniture for a house or apartment, corporates looking for a place to host events, or people looking for a night out, you are sure to find what you are looking for here.

Young and old are flocking to Kramerville to shop, eat, visit a market or simply have a night out with friends.

The people of Kramerville are welcoming and each store offers something different, be it light fixtures, doors, flooring to smaller items for the home or living space.

White explains that it’s safe enough to have coffee and find items for your house, and you can simply park and walk.

Corporates have found the district to be a great place to host launches and events, booking out venues like the restaurant Katy’s Palace and hosting markets, fashion shows and movie premieres at the spacious Tin Factory.

With the added benefit of allowing anyone who is redecorating, just purchased a new home or looking to improve office space with all the elements that go into the decor.

Krameville has become more than just an area to stock up on fabric and furniture. It’s now a booming district that attracts individuals who are looking to enjoy themselves, have a good meal, enjoy live entertainment or purchasing décor pieces.
