Eskom keep bringing on the clowns

-

Sean Maritz has been appointed to head Eskom. Allegedly, Maritz, once upon a time, appointed a church pal of his to an IT position in the utility, at a monthly salary of R100 000.

With so many clowns having been appointed CEO of Eskom over the last three years, namely Ben Ngubane, Johnny Dladla, Brian Molefe and Koko the clown, we now have additions to the circus family.

Anoj Singh and Sean Maritz. Although the board says it’s giving everyone a chance to be a CEO, one waits with baited breath for them to appoint the tea lady.

Stand-up comedian and author George Carlin says this about circuses: “Just because you got the monkey off your back, doesn’t mean the circus has left town.”

How absurd is it that so many buffoons have been appointed to head an entity which is arguably the largest and most important owned by the state ? With R400 billion in loans potentially at risk to be called up as a result of Eskom’s irrational actions, the utility runs a serious possibility of a credit downgrade. Expect Eskom’s board, now lacking in probity, to behave in a manner suggested by the artist, Salvador Dali, who said; “What is important is to spread confusion, not eliminate it.”

Then, from author Tom Peters, “if you're not confused, you’re not paying attention”. Nathan Cheiman, Northcliff
