VICTORY: IN IMSA PETIT LE MANS 10-HOUR RACE

-

The win in America is a massive boost for the SA youngster’s future career.

South African youngster Sheldon van der Linde continued his winning ways overseas last weekend – this time in America.

Van der Linde was invited to represent the Land-Motorsport team in the annual IMSA Petit Le Mans 10-hour race at Road Atlanta, sharing their Montaplast Audi R8 LMS GT3 with American drivers Connor de Philippi and Christopher Mies.

The young South African qualified the car fourth on the grid and ran fifth on the road during the opening driving stint.

After the first five hours it became clear that the Audi team had the pace and consistency to win, and the drivers were told to hustle.

Van der Linde complied in his next two-hour stint by taking the lead and his team-mates brought the car home in first place.

“It was a dream come true to win one of the biggest races in America and a massive boost for my career going forward,” Van der Linde said.

“Naturally, after a result like this I have found my place within the amazing Montaplast Land Motorsport team and I can only thank them for investing so much trust in a young guy like me,” he added.
