SPCA mobile clinic makes Alexandra pet ownership affordable

-

The Sandton and Eastern Metro SPCA is the only animal welfare organization providing veterinary services to animals in Alexandra township who belong to owners who are unable to afford private veterinary services.

The services include sterilisations, deworming and vaccinations. The SPCA offers these services from their clinic in Marl- boro. Using their mobile clinic, they offer regular clinics in the supported communities, offering veterinary care and promoting the vaccination and sterilisation of animals.

The mobile clinic, which had been running since February 2010, is a Nissan Interstar Panel Van which has been converted into a state of the art mobile clinic for animals and was kindly donated by Alan Friedland. The clinic has holding pens and an onboard refrigerator to house sensitive medication. There are examination counters and storage areas for all the equipment needed to provide basic veterinary care.

The clinic offers animal services and education to the underprivileged who have no means of transport and provides mobile and qualified education to the underprivileged.

The focus is on the less privileged areas in their jurisdiction, mainly Alexandra and the southern border of the southern eastern metropolitan, including Bertrams, Malvern and Bez Valley. Pet owners from these areas can bring their pets to be vaccinated, dewormed and dipped. info@sandtonspca.org.za.
