Zwartkops is karting heaven

The Zwartkops Kart Raceway will host the penultimat­e round of the 2017 Northern Regions Karting Championsh­ip this Saturday, with seven karting discipline­s on the racecard.

Heading up proceeding­s will be races for the DD2 category, with the top contenders Bradley Liebenberg, Justin Allison, Ivana Cetinich, Pascal Acquaah, Philippe Chapat and Marouan Selmi.

Cameron O’Connor leads the Senior Max title race, with his closest adversarie­s Joshua Dias, Daniel Duminy and Oliver Gunner and Jamie Smith.

Top drivers in the 125GP class will include Ian Basson, Rob Bakewell, Mauro Munari, Laurance Jones, Scott Falconer, Jimmy Auby, Kurt Bakewell and Miguel Dias.

Things are extremely close in the high school Junior Max class, with Jayden Els leading the title chase from Cameron Dias, Wayland Wyman, Kwanda Mokoena and Tiffany Napier.

In the under-13 Mini Max category Leyton Fourie, Jarrod Waberski, Daniel De Paiva and Aqil Alibhai are involved in a title dust-up, with the likes of Matthew Morrell, Liam De Beer and Josh Le Roux ready to run interferen­ce.

Aqil Alibhai currently leads the under-12 Maxterino 60cc title chase from Jordan Brooks, Joshua de Paiva and Muhammad Wally, with the likes of Joshua de Paiva, Troy Snyman, Jordan Brooks and Josh Le Roux also in the hunt.

Last but not least, Luke Hill leads the under-8 Gauteng Cadet kart championsh­ip from Wian

Boshoff and Anthon Lombard, Rayn Asmal, Tshepang Shisinwana and Cyril Jacobs.
