Tomorrow Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers will be hosting the closing-down auction of an iconic antique shop – Global Antiques. After trading for 21 years, the owners Gaby Lurie and Cecil Margolis have decided to retire from the industry. After starting the business in 1996,
incorporating Barnardo’s Period Interiors, they prided themselves in acquiring and selling high quality original condition antiques and collectables.
The two, who have been friends since primary school, were regulars at auctions and fairs alike all over the globe.
The day-long auction of items amassed over years features over 650 lots of stunning furniture, collectables, silver, crystal, glass, art and more.
Of special mention is the wonderful selection of Lalique – vases, clocks, mascots; a fantastic silver and patinated bronze Chiparus statue of Harlequins and a rare Art Deco patinated bronze of a seated girl by Maurice Guiraud-Riviere.
Viewing takes place today from 9am t to 5pm and tomorrow morning until the auction commences at 9.30am on location at Global Antiques, 6A 7th Avenue, P Parktown North.

As an added extra on Sunday, an unreserved r clearance auction will be held, starting at 9:30am as OJW try and clear out to get ready for the end of the year.
This is a fun-filled, treasure trove sort of day where you can pick up a real gem for next to nothing, so clear your diary and make sure you’re there.
This takes place at the Old Johannesburg Warehouse premises, 29 Village, S Selby.
Viewing takes place today from 8am to 4pm, as well as on Sunday until the auction commences at 9.30am.
