Now-confident Tomily can win the Lady Cecil at Nottingham

-

– Tomily can end the season with a bang by following up today in the Lady Cecil Handicap at Nottingham.

Seemingly in the grip of the handicapper for a large part of the year, Richard Hannon's gelding flashed home to win a decent prize at Doncaster last time out.

Hollie Doyle was on board the three-year-old for the first time and Tomily appeared well suited to her handling, beating Soie D'Leau by 0.50 lengths.

He has been put up 2kg for that success to a mark of 95 but was competitive off similar ratings earlier in the season and with the

confidence of a victory under his belt there is every chance he could go in again.

Hipster Boy is a very interesting newcomer for John Gosden in the first division of the B&M Installations Maiden Stakes.

Apart from the fact he is another horse running for Gosden in the famous maroon and white silks of Sheikh Mohammed, his breeding certainly catches the eye.

He is a half-brother to the topclass Manduro, who was arguably on the way to being a great of the game before his career was cut short by injury having already won the Prix Jacques le Marois and Prince of Wales's Stakes.

Plenty of Gosden's juveniles have taken a run or two to sharpen up this season, and he has have a stablemate by Galileo in Rhode Island who cannot be dismissed, but Hipster Boy could be exciting.

Lady Of Aran is going the right way and can follow up on a lasttime-out win in the 32Red.com Nursery Handicap at Kempton.

Trainer Charlie Fellowes declared her for a Listed contest at Newmarket last week before pulling her out on account of unsuitable ground, suggesting he thinks a fair bit of her.

Given she is only rated 76 it is certainly more practical to head down this route, but if Fellowes is anywhere near right she should be winning this small-field event.

Something was obviously amiss with Alqamar last time at Yarmouth and he can put that behind him with a good display in the 32Red Casino Handicap.

He ran at Royal Ascot in June, after which he was gelded, and subsequently chased home Great Hall at Ascot.

Sent off favourite to turn the tables on that rival last time out he was beaten too far for it to be his true running and is given one more chance.

Daklondike could not have won any easier at Wetherby on Saturday and a big hike in the weights awaits. So it is no surprise to see David Pipe get him out again quickly in the Ali Oils Memorial Chase. –
