Polokwane City striker Rodney Ramagalela has deservedly walked away with the Goalof-the Month (August/ September) and Player-of-theMonth (October) accolades for his individual brilliance in the colours of Rise and Shine.

Rama-G, as Ramagalela is known in football circles, has been in fine form for Bernard Molekwa’s side, scoring six goals in all competitions thus far and helping the club reach the semifinals of the Telkom Knockout.

The striker believes he will offer a lot more to the club should he remain injury-free, but attributed his fine display to his team-mates and sheer hard work.

“It is not all about Rama-G, it is all about the entire team as Polokwane City and the way we are working,” said Ramagalela, whose second goal against Mamelodi Sundowns on August 22 was the one that won him Goal-ofthe Month.

“I believe if I am injury-free I can make things happen for myself and the team, I just have to keep on going and see how far I can go. For me it is not about targets and number of goals I want to score, it is about Polokwane City. As long as the team is safe, then Rama-G is safe because Polokwane City is the one giving me a job.”

Rise and Shine have surprised many with their positive start to the season, which includes reaching the TKO semis, where they will be hosting Bloemfontein Celtic at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on November 19.

The Limpopo-based side are on 10 points on the league table, just seven points below league leaders Baroka FC after 10 games. Rama-G, however, says he is not surprised by the way the club is doing.

“You can’t be surprised with Polokwane for being in the Telkom Knockout semifinals, we did well last season, and we are continuing to do well this season, so it is not a surprise. We are taking it one game at a time, we will be focusing on the semifinal before thinking about winning the cup,” he added.

“Our target is to be in the top eight, but if it happens that we win the league it will be a bonus for the club and it will be history for the team.”
