-

There’s also lots to do at these resorts.

Since its recent upgrade, Graceland in Secunda has become one of the town’s best spots to wine and dine. With its American heyday charm, there’s plenty of options to satiate your hunger.

The Augusta Club Lounge offers a relaxing atmosphere after a game of golf. With glorious bay windows, comfortable seating and a collection of golfing memorabilia from South Africa and abroad, it has a selection of light meals.

Then there’s the elegant Blue Bayou imbued with the spirit of New Orleans. This themed restaurant serves carvery buffets and à la carte meals inspired by the many flavours of the world.

But if you’re more in the mood for the hustle and bustle of New York, head to Madison’s Bistro – a New York loft-style dining experience with a delicious all-American menu and a children’s play area. For adults, the Moo Bar will strike a particular chord. Harking back to the days of diners, the retro bar has a great selection of cocktails, shots and everything in-between. It might even give you enough courage to head to the casino floor, which is just outside.

If you’re in Gauteng, the unmissable Garden of Lights at Emperors Palace is back. Join this sparkling celebration of all things Christmas.

Not even the heat of summer can spoil this winter wonderland with a light extravaganza. Packed with fun activities for the whole family, you’ll be spellbound.

In the Garden of Lights you can meet all your favourite Christmas characters like Santa Claus, Mrs Claus, the Magical Fairy, Mr Snowman, Santa’s Special Elves and the Garden Princess.

You can also visit the Enchanted Garden, before stopping off at the Mystic Castle and the Magic Sweet Shop.

Then head to the North Pole and peek into Santa’s workshop to see the elves tinkering on the presents that are on Santa’s List.

There’s also a fun fair, food stalls and a toy and Christmas market in the convention centre.

Inside the main complex you can find Santa outside NuMetro. All proceeds go to the Cancer Association of SA and the Peermont Children’s and Education Funds.

If you still haven’t had your fill after the food stalls, just head to the always popular Rosetta’s which has revolutionised the classic buffet with it’s ancient decor.

If the North West is more your flavour, stop at Rio Casino for a spot of fun and food.

The casino features its own Moo Bar concept and also offers diners the choice between Karamba Grillhouse and FLAG Cafe.

Karamba is near famous for its superior cuts of meat (and a good wine list to boot) as well as popular South African dishes.

FLAG, which is situated on the ground floor of the Peermont Metcourt Hotel, offers buffet breakfasts as well as superb Sunday lunch buffet. – Citizen reporter
