-

Multi-talented comedian, actor, writer, radio and television presenter Nina Hastie was set to host the sixth Annual South African Hip-Hop Awards ceremony for the second consecutive year last night at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg.

Excited to be part of the award ceremony, Hastie said: “Any contribution I can make towards culture is an honour.

“I’m grateful to be part of a movement which allows us, South Africans, to fully express ourselves without restrictions.”

Having been part of South African hip-hop culture for over a decade, Hastie was the perfect host for this year’s event which was themed “Hip-Hop Politics”.

She has unmatched knowledge about and enthusiasm for hip-hop, as well as real insights into the culture and artists.

She frequently interviews them on her platforms, such as her breakfast show, Expensive Breakfast on Touch HD and her TV show, Trending SA.

She recently interviewed #FillupFNB concert owner, Cassper Nyovest.

Known to be one of the hardest working women in the industry right now, Hastie has had a phenomenal 2017.

She has earned her spot at the top of the South African entertainment and urban culture scene.

Having performed at SA’s top comedy festivals this year, Hastie also appears on three concurrent television shows: Trending SA, Soap On A Rope and Karakters.

She has done voice-overs for numerous brands, engaged in social media campaigns for brands and got the top ratings at Touch HD for her breakfast show. – Citizen reporter
