Dogs Unite for people needing a helper
Calling all Super Dogs – Dogs Unite is a national 5km dog walk on March 25.
It is the only event of its kind where your dog is the hero of the hour and you their humble best friend. The event forms part of the celebration of International Guide Dog on April 26.
Dogs Unite aims to unite dogs of all shapes and sizes across South Africa. By attending this event your dog will become a hero for the day, helping raise much-needed funds and awareness for their canine friends – guide dogs – who are genuine heroes every day for their owners.
Did you know that it costs in excess of R100 000 to breed, raise and train a working dog? The new owner of the guide or service Dog pays a mere R5 for their dog and makes a contribution of R100 towards their stay at the training centre during formal training so as not to block anyone who needs a guide dog from having one.
As a token of appreciation for your support in changing the lives of those living with sight loss, every furry fundraiser will receive their very own cape (an accessory a hero simply can’t be without) as well as a special doggy certificate.
The association urges animal lovers to get involved – find an event in your area (Jhb, CT and KZN) and transform the everyday dog walk into something extraordinary.
Participants are encouraged to invite their friends, family and colleagues to join them as they step up and show the city what they are walking for.
Tickets will be on sale from the South African Guide Dogs Association from January 15.
