Brief appearance
Keagan Dolly (above) made an appearance for his French side Montpellier in the cup on Saturday, coming off the bench in the 67th minute of a last-64 match at CA Pontarlier. Montpellier won 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time. Dolly has played just six games in all competitions for Montpellier so far this season, making just one start, in a league game at Dijon at the end of August. Ndlovu enduring tough times
Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Sandile Ndlovu (above) is said to be struggling financially and has resorted to driving taxis to put food on the table. A Phakaaathi source said the striker who once drove fancy cars can now be seen showing his driving skills in a taxi on the streets of his hometown of Pietermaritzburg. “He was shy at first and would try to disguise himself but people still recognised him and now he doesn’t seem to care and is taking his new job seriously,” said the source. Home Affairs ditherers
Muhsin Ertugral and Tendai Ndoro (above) were both forced to sit in the stands for Ajax Cape Town’s loss at home to Maritzburg United on Friday, as neither had secured their work permits in time for the opening Absa Premiership game of the New Year. It does seem ridiculous that once a club signs a coach or player, it often takes them a long time to secure a work permit, and is particularly ridiculous given that Ertugral and Ndoro are two men who have worked in South Africa for years. Tinkler happy with his squad
“My players are not for sale” – those are the words of SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler (above), who says he is not willing to sell any player in his squad. However, he admits that while he is keen to retain everyone in his squad, he is aware that some decisions are out of his control and are solely in the hands of management. SuperSport striker Jeremy Brockie has been strongly linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns or Orlando Pirates in January.
