Pastures new for five stars?

-

This January transfer window we have already seen many clubs busy in the market trying to strengthen their respective squads. Tshepo Ntsoelengoe takes a look at five possible transfers that could still take place before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Thulani Hlatshwayo Bidvest Wits to Orlando Pirates

The Wits skipper has long been linked with Orlando Pirates, particularly in the last two seasons with Bucs struggling to find a proper centreback after the likes of Happy Jele and Ayanda Gcaba fell out of favour. Bucs haven’t had a consistent back four for some time and that might be a case of not finding a suitable centreback with experience, hence the pursuit of Hlatshwayo. With Wits struggling, it would seem impossible for Bucs to get him. But, with some serious convincing and big offer, Hlatshwayo might yet end up a

William Twala Kaizer Chiefs to Maritzburg United

The skilful winger, who has pace to burn, hasn’t had the best of times since joining Chiefs from Chippa United in 2016. When he joined the Glamour Boys at Naturena, there was a lot of hype about Twala’s signing looking at the sterling job he had done at the Chilli Boys previously. However, things haven’t exactly been a smooth ride for Thwala, with a lack of game time propelling rumours that he is on his way out of the club.

Jeremy Brockie SuperSport United to Mamelodi Sundowns or Orlando Pirates

Since the end of last season, Jeremy Brockie has been at the centre stage of the transfer talk, which even saw him write a letter to SuperSport United management to have his contract terminated. The club which Brockie has heavily been linked with was Mamelodi Sundowns, but SuperSport were not ready to let him go. At the moment, the New Zealander is once again being linked with a move, and now Orlando Pirates have also joined the race for the goalpoacher’s signature.

Asavela Mbekile Mamelodi Sundowns to Orlando Pirates

Mbekile is one of the players that has significantly fallen out of favour at the Pretoria outfit. His talent cannot be taken lightly, but the competition at Pitso Mosimane’s Mamelodi Sundowns is on another level which has seen him just adding numbers to the squad with no game-time at all this season. The 31-year-old has been reported to be on the radar of Orlando Pirates, who have been seriously monitoring his situation at Chloorkop and they believe he could add a lot of value at the club.

Prince Nxumalo Ajax Cape Town to Kaizer Chiefs or Chippa United

The future of Prince Nxumalo at Ajax seems to be bleak, especially with the arrival of former Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro at the club. Nxumalo has been the Urban Warriors’ leading front-man in the last couple of seasons, but his form has lately been questionable with the forward scoring just two goals in six appearances for the club. Nxumalo has been strongly linked with Kaizer Chiefs for a while and more recently the forward has also attracted the interest of Chippa United.
