LUCKY READER PRIZE: GO TO THE MET IN CAPE TOWN

- Nicci Garner

The Citizen SMS winner will go to the Mother City’s big race and fashion show – with cash to spare.

Bold African colours, artfully arranged headdresses and extravagant beading will be the order of the day at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on Saturday, January 27, when cult hero Legal Eagle’s bid to win the R5-million Sun Met is one of the drawcards of the day.

The theme is “Style Ahead of the Field” and Met Day organisers are expecting a vibrant array of colours, patterns and textures to grace the racecourse. They say:

“This intriguing theme will be achieved by the mixing of genres where trendy modern attire is infused with African inspiration.”

So, there is enormous scope of choice for the lucky reader of The Citizen who wins our SMS Met competition. First prize is a trip for two to Cape Town for the Mother City’s biggest race day of the year and includes a R3 000 clothing voucher.

Going to Cape Town and getting dressed up is just part of the fun because, apart from the horseracing, there is a “dazzling line-up of entertainment, featuring some of our finest radio and club DJs and a live performance by award-winning band Mi Casa”, according to the organisers.

And if our winning couple have the stamina after a day packed with entertainment, there is also an after-party where they will get automatic entry in an esteemed Best-Dressed competition.

The prize includes return flights from Johannesburg, as well as accommodation and all meals on the Friday and Saturday, entry to Kenilworth on Met Day and a total of R10 000 which also includes R4 000 to bet, R2 000 in TAB betting vouchers and a R2 000 TAB bet on the horse of the winner’s choice in the Met. The prize includes R3 000 in cash.

There are two runner-up prizes of R1 000 in a TAB betting voucher and R1 000 to place a win or place wager on a Met horse.
