Take a victory flight on the Memphis Belle
HOME TRACK: BACK ON THE CLASSIC SHE SHOULD MAKE AMENDS
Enchanted Drawing could be a Pick 6 banker.
Memphis Belle might have been overawed by her late night last time, when unplaced over the Turffontein 1000m, but back on her home track at the Vaal today, she looks set to make amends in Race 7.
She runs in a 1000m race on the Classic track, a trip over which she beat Phillydelphia in November. Celtic Lady, who renews rivalry and has won twice since, is 4.5kg worse off, courtesy of young apprentice Jason Gates’ 4kg allowance.
The Lucky Houdalakis-trained four-year-old went on to run second behind Singing In Seattle over the Vaal 1000m and then won over that course and distance in her penultimate start.
Celtic Lady must rate a good chance, in spite of the weight turnaround and the fact she is held by stablemate Levi Lady at the weights.
Back in August she ran Levi Lady to 2.30 lengths and her conqueror is 3.5kg better off. However, Levi Lady is not the most reliable of individuals, while Celtic Lady is in good form at the moment.
Gimmethemoney seems a problematic filly for trainer Paul Peter. She was in fair form before running a shocker in June and was rested until August when she only tired late to third, 2.75 lengths behind Captain’s Girl (a winner subsequently). She hung that day and was put away again. It’s been some time since she won, but she should finish in the frame.
Perhaps the Pick 6 banker is Enchanted Drawing in Race 5 over 2400m. She makes her debut for the Mike de Kock stable, having had to move away from trainer James Goodman, who handed in his trainer’s licence.
Often horses enjoy a change of surroundings and improve and Enchanted Drawing could be hard to beat.
If she fluffs her lines Parisienne Chic could pick up the pieces.
